Prosiect Ysgolion
Shrewsbury School's Project
23/6/2010
Helo Calanettes!
Dyma ni, yn Shrewsbury am yr wythnos. Ryn ni yma
yna gweithio yn Ysgol Gynradd St.Georges gan rhoi
drochiad llwyr o gerddoriaeth a thraddodiadau
Cymreig, boed yn alawon, caneuon, dawnsio ac hyd
yn oed iaith. Erbyn Nos Wener, bydd 350 o blant
yn canu Lawr ae Lany Mor, a grwp o 30 yn chwarae
alawon megis Pwt ar y Bys, Ffidl Ffadl, Marwnad
yr Ehedydd ac Hen Ferchetan.
The kids at St.George's
Junior School, where we're working for the week,
are amazing. They've been picking up the tunes,
the songs, the dances, and even the language,
so quickly. I think it's amazing project - and
you can't help but learn and enjoy when you're
immersed in the stuff for one long intensive week.
Other schools, festivals and folk organisations
should learn from this, and start similar projects.
The huge cuts to public spending is worrying,
but we shouldn't loose sight at how educational
and enjoyable the arts are. This week has certainly
proved to us how important it is to pass this
traditional material on to the younger generation
- we're all getting so much out of it!
Hwn yw un o'r cyfleoedd
cyntaf i ni fel band i wneud rhywbeth tebyg i
hyn. Mae'n eironig braidd taw yn ysgol yn Lloegr
sydd wedi gwahodd ni; band Cymreig yn addysgu
plant nhw am ein traddodiadau ni. Yn wir, mae
nifer o blant yr ysgol a gwreiddiau Cymreig, ac
hyd yn oed heb y cyswllt hynny, mae dysgu mwy
am draddodiadau unrhyw genedl arall yn cyfoethogi
bywyd. Trueni nad oes llawer o bethau tebyg yn
digwydd yng Nghymru. Mae sefydliadau megis Trac
a Clera yn gwneud gwaith arbennig i hybu cerddoriaeth
traddodiadol - ond mae angen fwy o gefnogaeth
arnynt! Plis wnewch chi cefnogi nhw, er mwyn sicrhau
dyfodol disglair i'n traddodiadau!
